Tony Hawk Foundation gives $25,000!

Yes, you can scream! Tony Hawk Foundation gave the Bemidji Skate and Bike Association $25,000 to get our park built! We were one of three projects to get their maximum award, pretty sweet huh?! So, go out and do good, knowing this project is closer and closer to a reality.

$100,000 recieved from George W. Neilson Foundation!

Thank you so much to the Neilson Foundaiton for their generous donation of $100,000 to make this project a reality! This means the park will be built, most likely within Bemidji City Park beginning in early 2010. We now have $255,006.74 committed to the project, but still need another $100,000 and more to get the project completed. We currently have $85,500 worth of grants out and waiting for a reply. So, yes! We still have a lot of work to do, but this is great news for sure!

If you skate, bike, scoot, or trike in Bemidji, you must respect the rules the City has established. City staff are seeing vandalism in public and private places seemingly caused by skaters and bikers. Understand, that without a postive public perception from area residents and continued support of city staff and our leadership team, the hopes of a skate and bike plaza in Bemidji can disappear really quickly.

Don't be a bonehead, be nice instead!

Fundraising Has Begun!

Fundraising for the Skate and Bike Plaza has begun! We are fortunate to have the City of Bemidji commit to $150,000, the recent Youth Venture/Burton Snowboards grant of $1,000, and financial donations from Cool Threads, Dunn Bros, and others. We've sold many t-shirts, and appreciate the personal donations already given. Now it's your turn!

Our goal is $100,000 from the community and outside grants, of which we have about $3,000 now. We are just getting started, so your financial donation is important. Sorry you have to lick a stamp and envelope, and that we don't have a PayPal account, but we are a very lean organization with no budget and all volunteers! Oh...and thanks in advance for supporting us!
